A sleepover unlike any other! Sleep alongside the fascinating dinosaurs in Dinosaur Hall in our Edutour program. Participate in hands-on workshops, tour the galleries, and enjoy an evening activity in the Town of Drumheller.

Program runs on requested weekdays beginning at 12:45 p.m.

We require one chaperone for every eight students. Additional chaperones are subject to a fee.

Prices for the 2024 – 2025 school year include all activities and materials, two snacks, supper and breakfast, and admission to the Museum.

What types of food did dinosaurs eat? Students will learn about the differences between carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs through hands-on fossils, a craft, a flash card identification game, and by 'feeding' the dinosaurs.

Working in groups, students will explore the mechanics of how dinosaurs moved, by comparing them to living animals. Using their mathematical skills, they will take measurements of dinosaur skeletons in Dinosaur Hall. A discussion afterwards allows them to share their findings with their classmates.

Learn about the unique process of fossilization. In this exciting workshop, students experience the exhilaration of discovery as they uncover real dinosaur fossils. Using tools of the trade, students learn how to excavate fossils in our simulated quarry, and how scientists map and interpret their discoveries.

Bad or good? It depends on your perspective. The badlands posed many challenges to early explorers. However, for palaeontologists, they hold the mysteries of ancient life. Discover how the Alberta badlands came to be. Learn the secrets of sedimentation, erosion, fossilization, and glaciation through an interactive reader's theatre and a competitive game of "Geopardy."

Explore the world of plants in our Cretaceous Garden! Discover what plants looked like in Alberta during the Age of Dinosaurs. Students work in teams to locate, analyze, describe, and draw a specific plant. Finally, they present the information they have gathered to their classmates. This program encourages students to use their observation, investigative, artistic, and public speaking skills.

Discover Alberta's geology through an interactive game where students work in teams and move around a floor-sized game board shaped like the province. As they answer questions, do demonstrations, and complete tasks, students learn how geologic processes have shaped the land. Through engaging, hands-on learning, students will gain a greater understanding of geology and how these processes have influenced the landscape of the province today.

Who wants to be a palaeontologist? This interactive game show focuses on the fossils in our galleries, and challenges the audience with images, video clips, puzzles, and multiple-choice questions. Are you ready to play?
